The Glaswegian had an early start to his career; he became a resident at Glasgow techno institution Monox at just 17, and before that he worked at world-renowned record shop Rubadub preferring to be paid in music rather than cash. He has since been voted No.2 in the Resident Advisor Top 100 DJ Poll in 2016, set up several record labels and toured across the globe, spreading his unique electronic sounds.
Jackmaster is renowned for surprises due to his vast and varied taste in music, and his Halloween set at Junk on Tuesday was no exception.
Techno from another planet.
Aliens, monsters and zombies raved to the otherworldly bass and effects; all performed live, no sitting back and pressing play for Jackmaster; he leapt about the DJ booth tending to every dial and button to create his wonderfully strange cacophony.
Jackmaster resisted the pull of cheesy, Halloween anthems, he knew as we did that no one was here for that, but a few disco tunes didn’t go unappreciated. Mixing in this jungle of genres was child’s play for the veteran DJ, take note aspiring DJs, this is the real thing.
