Submariner @ Common People Festival Southampton <3
Submariner @ The Uncommon Stage presented by The Joiners - Southampton Common People Festival
It was the first day of Common People Festival in Southampton and my friend Robyn and I were taking in the sights and sounds of the grounds when we were approached by two guys wearing wavy shirts and a hat full of badges; it was two members of the band Submariners who were playing at the Uncommon Stage hosted by The Joiners. Eagerly dishing out badges paid off for the boys and they gathered a respectably sized crowd considering it was midday and the gig was a personal affair for the band as their family and friends were thanked after their performance with one of the guys’ mum clearly in tears with pride.
The band from the South Coast and are establishing themselves in the Indie scene having been played on BBC introducing, supported Blaenavon and Fatherson and released their record Where Do We Go From Here? in May this year.
For a small time indie band the vocal harmonies in their performance of Colour were surprisingly polished and their songs had the unmistakable Indie catchy quality that had strangers to their music sing along to the chorus. Submariner were also inviting, encouraging the crowd to come closer and they clearly appreciated other’s enjoyment of their music which set the tone for the rest of the weekend.
If you want to catch Submariner on tour they will be playing at The Hope and Ruin, Brighton on the 13th of June.
