Twin Peaks!

After polishing off half a bottle of cheap red, dressed in my charity shop jeans, mesh top and Dr Martens looking like a hangover from the 90’s I headed inside The Joiners in Southampton. I have been here before to see up and coming Indie bands such as The Flamingods, Frankie Knight and The Drowners and was welcomed by the familiar antique paper posters from years ago when Radiohead played in this very bar. Our tickets of £10 weren’t checked on the door; these little places are not in the habit of demanding ID either, it’s relaxed as per usual.

Twin Peaks are a band from the US which you could tell by their shocked expressions at the sight of a mosh pit forming to their relatively chilled hit song Making Breakfast; they had probably never seen an audience as high and wild as this before, a selection of Southampton’s finest young ravers. Chilling near the back the music was catchy, appealing; Twin Peaks fitted into the Indie genre neatly but seemed to lack a sense of ‘rock and roll’ stage presence that the audience evidently craved, like a pit bull with a timid owner, prepare to get your leg bitten boys!
